It's hard to believe that in a few short days, we will have an eight week old. *cue the water works*
Now, I truly understand the meaning behind the old saying, "The days are long, but the years are short." The past seven weeks have been a rollercoaster of emotions, learning opportunities, challenges, and little victories. One of these days, I will have more time to go into detail and share about my eventful third trimester of pregnancy, Brady's birth story, and my current postpartum experience including the lessons we've learned since bringing our baby home. For now, I will cherish these photos of our precious little two week old in his Noah’s ark themed nursery. Captured by Linnea Kay Photography.

It's officially "baby month" and while I don't feel like I have experienced true "nesting" yet, I do feel like my husband has taken on this responsibility. He has been so hard at work these past few months trying to finish all of the projects in and around our house before baby arrives. While we know we won't be able to complete all of them before his arrival, we have made great progress.
One of the spaces that needed extra attention was our formal dining room. We never planned on using the space as formal dining, as we wanted a more open-concept, casual living and dining space that flowed from our kitchen into the living room. Instead, we envisioned utilizing this room as a den or home office. Last month, we finally decided to tackle designing and furnishing it. A few weeks back, we completed another project we always envisioned for this space: built-in storage for our mudroom! We have been hard at work knocking out projects we have planned to do, especially before our baby boy arrives in a few short months.
Before our home renovation, this space was awkward, not functional, or reaching its full potential. It was part closet, part pass through from the garage leading to the main entry hallway. When we did the walk through for our renovations, I immediately envisioned this space being the perfect little mudroom and drop zone for all of our belongings when we come home. Once we refinish our pool (hopefully by next summer), this will also be the designated place to dry off and the drop zone for wet towels and swimsuits. |
