Even amidst a pandemic, my closest friends offered to throw us a local baby shower to celebrate our little love. I was so grateful that they were willing to open their homes and plan such a special event for us, as so many occasions like this have been postponed or drastically changed altogether. Some of our family, friends, and neighbors gathered together as safely as possible to celebrate this joyous moment and our precious boy, and everything about it was perfect! The theme, the delicious menu and home cooked brunch entrees, the decor, and all of the carefully thought out little details were the sweetest touches.
From the moment I walked in, some of my best friends were there to greet me and welcome me in to the festivities. They were so kind to say how great I looked and to complement me, even at 30 weeks pregnant. I was so blown away by the personalized sign, the beautiful balloon installation my sister made, and all of the gifts we were so blessed with already sitting underneath it. As I moved through the house, I noticed the adorable safari animal theme that ties in with our nursery, my favorite books from my childhood, and some of my favorite brunch foods and beverages.
As other friends and neighbors arrived from near and far, I cherished finally getting to see them face to face--many of which I hadn't seen in months--to hug their necks, and to simply visit and fellowship together. We sat and ate and talked and laughed, played a few fun shower games like match the baby animal to the mama and present bingo (which I highly recommend) while I began to open the incredibly thoughtful gifts that were given to us. As I opened them one by one, I felt so loved and known and cared for, and knew that our baby would be able to experience these same beautiful feelings because of these amazing people God placed in our lives.
Baby Burke, as you can see, you truly are so loved and cared for, and we can't wait to introduce you to these incredible people.
"For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name.
