I'm excited to finally share the design and mood board for the second most used space in our home, the family room! Now that our "secret" is out about our little love on the way, you can see why we have been more motivated to get these final interior house projects finished and get our home really ready for our growing family.
Because we spend so much time in here, and will continue to do so with a new baby, our family room needed some extra attention. We needed new furniture that would allow for a better use of our space within the existing layout, and that would highlight the painted brick fireplace while allowing you to still watch TV. During their "Buy More, Save More" sale, we recently purchased cozy, family-friendly furniture from Pottery Barn. We chose the PB Comfort Grand Armchairs and Grand Sofa in a performance fabric (Heathered Tweed in Pebble) so that it would withstand anything life (and pets and babies) throw at it. I love that these pieces will stand the test of time, both in style and durability. ![]() I also wanted to replace our existing rug with something more traditional and slightly more colorful, as there aren't many other accents in this room. After searching the internet high and low, I finally found the perfect fit for our space--the Loloi Hatahway rug in Navy. It was just the colors I was looking for in the perfect pattern, but the fading makes it feel vintage and lived in. I am also hoping to frame out our window in this space with a pair of beautiful display cabinets for both form and function. A new baby means a lot of new gadgets and toys and the need for more storage options! To complete the space, I would love to add in some beautiful curtains, fun, textured throw pillows, such as those pictured above from Magnolia, and a new floor lamp. We already added these Target poufs for $100 total that double as ottomans and extra seating. Talk about a win-win! To complete the space, all we need now are some unique wall decorations and small accessories. I love trying to find these kinds of pieces at antique stores. It's one of my favorite weekend activities, and it's so fun to do when we're traveling! I'm already so happy with the progress thus far in our family room, and look forward to all of the smiles, snuggles, laughs, and games to come in this space! Stay tuned for our open concept living room design and nursery design soon! Love, Kimberly
